On September 11, 2001 almost 3,000 people lost their lives in the worst terrorist attack on American soil. There were three main attack points on this fateful day the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon, and a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
My questions is: why do we only see pictures like the ones in this post on the anniversary of September 11th? Why is it that the media only covers what happened that day and the changes since then once a year. I fully understand that there is no point in showing these images every day. But, even the images they show on the anniversary are less and less expressive.
I am inclined to believe, and I would love to know your opinion, that we do not see these images anymore because the media doesn’t want the public to be afraid, to think about the problems that still exist with our government, or to start any anti-Muslim feelings among the public. Regardless of any of this, it is imperative that we do not forget what happened early one Tuesday morning in September. The world changed that day and way too many people lost their lives.

It is 5:15 am all is quiet, or as quiet as it ever gets, throughout the college dormitory. And then, suddenly, “THERE IS AN EMERGENCY IN THE BUILDING – PLEASE EVACUATE” that rings through the complex over and over.
Bleary eyed and fluffed haired students begin to jump out of bed making their way into the cool, crisp, air outside. Some are barefoot, some are in pajamas, some have done this too many times before and are warm. While still others teeth chatter in the cold morning air.
When the drill is over some people will go back to sleep, others will start a game of cards, still others start thinking about breakfast. This is my fire drill dorm story. Tell me a story about a fire drill you had in a dorm or otherwise? Or, just an interesting dorm story? Or, just an interesting story? 🙂 Leave some in the comments section!
Construction! We are moving Negative Horizon to an external server so that we can add some new things to it. Please go to https://negativehorizon.wordpress.com, there will be an update there once the move has happened. Thank you!
The article below discusses the fact that a web host RackSpace has suspended the account of the church that is organizing a quran burning soon. Do you think this is a violation of the rights or no? Let us know in the comments.
I think it is really important that we all find a place where we can go to think and get away from the hustle and bustle of life for a minute. The place I have found is a tree outside my dorm at the University at Buffalo. The picture above is the view from sitting under the tree. This is where I do a lot of my reading for school and thinking. What places are special and cool to you? Leave some in the comment section!
Think of all the things that have gone into and out of fashion or style in your life. These popular trends are called fads.
Here are some of the things that have gone into and out of style in my life:
Remember these? It is a Yo Yo. I distinctly remember in fourth grade people playing with these on the bus ride home from school, which now that I think about it was kind of dumb considering they would sometimes drop to the floor, haha.
Do you recall these little devils? This is a Furby. These monsters seriously took over the world and it is a wonder the human race survived! There is still one in my cousin’s attic that haunts my nightmares to this day. *runs away*
Yeah, I never quite got the thrill behind Pokemon. But, this set of cards and what not defined a generation…I guess. Everyone used to trade them and everyone knew what everything about them meant. I was clueless and still am. *bows head to greater authority*
Wrist bands like a Livestrong band is the last distinct fad that I can remember. I’m sure I’m missing a few that didn’t hit my generation quite as hard. There is a Livestrong band on my arm right now, actually. There are several other kinds of these bands. This fad is currently being replaced with silly bands.
